The Fuse salute Steve Jobs.
The Fuse use Apple products, and have used Apple products, ever since we started recording music.
When we play live, our backing track comes from an iPod. We record and send ideas to each other via the iPhones we all use.
The Fuse want to recognise the massive role played by Steve Jobs in revolutionising the way we record, buy, and listen to music.
Steve Jobs: we salute you.

Unterempfenbach Festival Report
Last weekend The Fuse travelled to Unterempfenbach, Bavaria, for the 29th Open Air Festival.
The event was headlined by Tito and the Tarantula, a favourite band of Quentin Tarantino, who have written music for films such as From Dusk Til Dawn.
We flew into Munich from Gatwick, after a 4.15 am start that included the last minute cancellation of our 8 man taxi as the driver's wife went into labour. Thankfully, the cab company were able to supply two other cars by way of replacement - but its the kind of phone call you dread at that time of the morning.
On arrival at Munich we picked up our hire car - only just big enough to take all the luggage - and drove north, to Mainburg, where we were staying in the old station master's house, now converted to a small hotel.
Our arrival was greeted with shock and horror - in residence were The Doonans, recovering from major hangovers, and a rather grumpy staff who were attempting to serve them breakfast. It appeared that they had all been at it the night before; the Fraulein in charge admitted sheepishly that pints down had been 6am.
All of which boded well for our night, but in the meantime a slightly disgruntled Fuse took a drive to Abensberg to see the Hundert Wasser tower there. The day was cold and overcast, and Abensberg empty; but we stumbled on a lovely restaurant serving traditional Bavarian cuisine, which we joyfully got stuck into.
The festival itself was taking place in the hop fields of Unterempfenbach. There was a large, pro stage set up in a small field, where there were food tents and benches. It was a fascinating site, slightly reminiscent of the Wild West.
The crowd of a few hundred, many of whom had been there since Tuesday, were drinking out of these rather wonderful ceramic mugs, which they carried with them at all times. Many of them had carabiners clipped to their trousers, ensuring they didn't lose their particular mug.
We were the second band on, and were scheduled to play a one hour set - the longest we've ever been asked to play. The set went really well, and before long the crowd began to filter forward to listen to The Fuse, a band few if any had ever heard of before.
By the end of the show, the whole field seemed rapt by our performance - after one song, when the cheers had faded, there was a complete silence as we prepared for the next song. You could have heard a pin drop.
Afte the show, we walked off stage, leaving behind a baying crowd. It was an incredible feeling, to hear them shouting 'Fuse' Fuse' and calling for one more song. So we went back out and played Stay Now, a new track with a good sing along quality to it.
Having heard the song once, they knew what was coming, and sure enough, when the chorus kicked in, they were singing like good'uns.
After the show we hit the excellent Augustinerbrau Helles, and enjoyed the other acts. All in all, it was an excellent occasion, and we hope to return to Germany very soon.
Many thanks to Mike at DMC for arranging things, and Pit, the organiser, for a fantastic festival.
If you would like to see photos of the event, head over to our facebook page.

Fantastic write up for The Fuse
We are super excited to have been reviewed by the US tastemaking blog 'The Independent Music Scene.'
This is what they say:
The Fuse
The Fuse is an alternative rock band from Croydon, England. This band instantly creates a flashback to the 80's sound, but it is defiantly a sound created for today's indie scene. The Fuse is an indie band that is on the quick rise. In 2010, they saw success on tour and with sales. When performing live this band does the most important thing, which is to sound great. It is a sign of a good band when their live stuff sounds better than the recordings, and this bands has it. The sound pushes through energy with an edge that is hard to define. I would would say that the best comparison would be like a decent fusion between U2's early and later stuff. They have great layering that happens where very part sounds just as good as the others making listening an experience worth doing again. The fuse is everyone's New Wave Indie band.

Holland - The Fuse are with you
We are just about to sound check at De Pul in Uden for another gig with our good friends Coldplace - even better than the real Coldplay thing. After a hot show in Lelystad last night, we got into our hotel at 3am then stayed up another hour playing early 90's video game classic Mario Kart. It's still amazing, we can assure you! We were also beautifully surprised by our friends at the legendary Uden venue Razzoo, who posted a load of great pics of us playing there on out last visit out here - thanks guys! Check them out on our facebook page.
Another gig awaits tonight, and we can't wait to bring our sound to Uden again, the people are very friendly and we love to come and play here!
Love, The Fuse.

New Airplay for The Fuse - 1.7 million listeners
The Fuse are thrilled to be included on the new Deuce Show jingle to accompany Deuce's inclusion on the Drive Time Show of Indie 104, one of the biggest indie stations in the world with up to 1.7 million daily listeners.
Rob, from Deuce management takes over from here:
Deuce Management & Promotion is pleased to announce that The Deuce Radio Show will now be broadcast on Indie 104 ; one of the most popular Internet radio stations in the USA and worldwide.
Indie 104 is based in Los Angeles and was one of the very first radio stations to broadcast from the Internet supporting new and independent music. The station also broadcast FM for a period of time, which enabled more people to listen to them. This came to an end when they were told by a large radio broadcasting corporation they were unable to play independent music on terrestrial radio. Since reverting back to Internet only broadcast though, Indie 104’s popularity has soared and regularly attracts in the region of 150,000 to 1.7 million listeners worldwide on a daily basis.
Their reputation for broadcasting the very best in independent music has also resulted in Indie 104 winning Best Internet Station Of The Year in 2006, 2007 and 2008 at the Annual New Music Awards held at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood.
You will be able to listen to the Deuce Radio Show every Friday on Indie 104 during their popular drive time period between 8am – 10am US Pacific Time (4pm GMT). To listen to Indie 104 Radio and find out more information about them, visit www.indie104.com or click on the banner below:
The Deuce Show is a weekly broadcast featuring all bands and artists promoted by Deuce Management & Promotion and is presented by Joe Ferrett . The show first aired in February 2009 as a fortnightly one hour show and is now a 2 hour weekly show so we have more time for interviews, regular exposure for Deuce acts, plus plenty more new features!
As well as Indie 104, The Deuce Show is also broadcast on FM on KWSS in the USA which goes out to over 18,000 listeners, Spain’s Heart FM , which attracts over 14,000 listeners, UCA Radio where it is broadcast FM to the Ayr University campus and on its own dedicated DAB channel on the Ayr Multiplex reaching out to over 350,000 people, and Leith FM in Edinburgh! It is also aired on a large number of other Internet and University radio stations worldwide, a list of which can be found HERE and on podcast HERE

New Year's Eve Gig Announced
Great news today as The Fuse confirmed our first ever New Years Eve gig, at the Cobden Club.
Following our show there last week, promoter Micky P was so impressed that he invited us onto the bill for New Years, which will also be the last ever night of live music at The Cobden Club - the building is making way for a housing development.
Called The Last Waltz, the night will feature several fantastic acts like Lucid Jake and Le Rabbler Jam, and well known DJ's Phil Asher and Noel Watson will be spinning the decks.
The Fuse has a guest list, so if you're keen to come, just email alex@thefusemusic.com to book your spot. Tickets on The Fuse list are only twenty pounds - you're unlikely to find a better party anywhere in London!

if you have 4 minutes, go to our video page - or our facebook page - and have a listen to some samples of the material we're working on for our second album. We've just posted a video with footage of the Breda Barst with some new tune samples.
Breda was our favourite festival of the summer, we met some fantastic people there, many of whom are in the video.
Quite a few people have written in to our guestbook - THANKS. Oh and can we say, to the Razzoo barman wearing The Fuse t-shirt - we're really sorry but we accidentally deleted your guest book entry!
But we say again: RAZZOO barman = legend. :-)
OK everyon enjoy the tracks. If anyone asks really nicely we might consider 'leaking' a track occasionally, so stay in touch.
lots of love,
The Fuse
PS - the video is available in HD so don't forget to select that option on your machine. Sound is WAY better in HD.

3voor12 Review - Fuse Breda Barst Performance
The Fuse
(This article is translated from the Dutch.)
Description:
Britpop, and in this case actually made by our overseas neighbors. Described in the program book as Kaiser Chiefs and New Order, although we don't hear New Order. Less bouncy and Beatlesk than most Britpoppers, but no less beautiful because of that.
Plus points:
This quintet is good! Good songs, good musicians, fantastic singer, beautiful harmonies and good sound (also a welcome relief). The Fuse is relaxed with drawn-out songs of very high quality.
Minus points:
The biggest downside to this performance was the public, apart from the fact that the field was only half full anyway, the people that have come are only there to have a good chat and catch-up with one another. The front man doesnt give up however and keeps on inviting [people] to clap and sing along, but with limited success. Perhaps his impassioned moves scare the public?
Conclusion:
The only thing The Fuse are missing is a hit on 3FM [Fuse: a national radio station]. When the public is ready, we'd love to see The Fuse back again!
Rating:
8

Breda Barst - Alex Lato Reports
The Fuse were joyfully reunited with a Dutch audience at the Breda Barst on Sunday, and apparently we delivered a vintage performance, according to 3 Voor 12, who gave us an 8/10. :-)
Firstly we'd like to really thank all the staff at the event for making it such a great afternoon - Anne, Ray, and Eric - stage manager, on stage sound, and back stage, all did a great job. And what is really amazing about these guys is that they are all volunteers. It really takes your breath away when you think about it, and explains why the Dutch have such a fantastic live music scene.
Stepping on stage, it really felt like the whole group were up for it, and it has to be said, it was a massive inspiration looking out at a big crowd. Within a minute or two, we had a really great crowd of people right at the front of the stage, dancing and shocking out.
They were incredible, and really helped create the energy which poured out of the band as we played our first four numbers back to back. Rarely have I felt so energised on stage - I felt like I was a cog in a machine that was firing on all cylinders. I could really feel the energy, it was immense.
We have to give a big shout to Rudi and Gabriel at Bear Brown, who got us this show. At the end of the day, a band can practice and practice and practice, but if they never get the chance to play to the big audiences, they can never really say they've been given a chance to prove themselves.
As a band we realise that shows like this are where we make or break our career - it's that simple - either you go for broke, and create a massive show, or you retreat into your shell and dont get another chance.
It's worth saying as well, that the Dutch are an incredibly generous audience, who are willing to give a new band a chance - no rotten tomatoes or beer bottles. So we need to give them a big thank you too - thanks for listening - and to all of you who joined in the sing along in Phantom - amazing.
We'll be back in Holland for the Festyland show at Volkel - hope to see you there!

France Tour - Alex Lato reports.
Thanks to the efforts of Sophie Lee and her Mum Michelle, who organised the 8th Fabrezan Festival, The Fuse were able to travel out to France with expenses covered, so it was with light hearts and heavy bags that we arrived at Stansted.
As a profound Ryanairophobe, I feel slightly nauseous to report that the flight was actually rather efficient. Once you accept that your seat won't recline, and subdue the aggravation you feel tempted to succumb to when they advertise some drink or other to the sound of ice cubes clinking, the flight is ok, and we weren't late.
The Fuse are a lucky band, in so far as Mike and Norma, Jake's parents, own a magnificent house in the Carcassonne area, where they generously put us up. This was the base from which we were able to explore the incredibly beautiful Languedoc region.
A highlight has to be the Ribaute gorge, where we spent a wonderful afternoon swimming and sunbathing. I swam as far upstream as I could, and discovered a small nudist colony. The rocks being slippery with green weed, I literally stumbled on top of them. Still not sure who was more embarrassed - but beating a hasty retreat on slippery rocks whilst attempting to muster an acceptable French apology is something I would recommend to the stout-hearted.
The Festival itself saw Jake lead a massive health and safety drive to clear the broken bottles and other sharp debris, and Simon, traditionally a football underdog, memorably out shoot Jake Mike and myself in a chip from the half way line competition. Swinging his leg like a sand wedge, he nailed four beautifully flighted shots, to the astonishment of all present. Arsenal beckons.
The performance itself was well attended - about 250 people assembled under the stars on a balmy evening. I remember very fondly the first burst of smoke from the large smoke machine, as we broke into Phantom - and the wide eyes of Jake's three and five year old nieces at the front of the stage.
Mike Varnava outshone us all with the fishing pole - showing great perseverance, he fashioned a a new eyelet for the pole, and then a float out of half a cork and a toothpick. He then proceeded to land two reasonable carp, much to everyone's amazement.
Final honours go to Kiki, who singlehandedly invented the sport of brining - this game involves throwing salty water, preferably from a pot of olives, over ones fellow band member, in this case Simon. No brining is complete, however, without a post brining auto-brine. See the photos on facebook for pics of Kiki and Simon with their matching, brined, grey t-shirts.
Thanks to Emily, Lubna, and Tubbeh, for their help on the merch stand, and Norma and Mike for their amazing hospitality, and an honourable mention to the Fiat Panda which carried us over 400 miles at the cost per person of 12 Euros. A miserly performance by the common rail direct injection diesel engine, which revved like a goodun. Soft steering, but it screeched tires round corners and never felt like letting go. Good work from the boys in Turin.

The Fuse Writing Retreat
The Fuse - a band known for their love of fine cheese - have selected Melton Mowbray to be the location for their forthcoming writing retreat, where the year's ideas and fledging songs are to be converted into next years second album.
The plan is to get as much of the material as possible up to demo stage. We will then begin gigging some of it to see how it goes down, before heading to the studio in October to start laying it down in anger.
In the meantime, we wil be releasing Gonna See You and Solid Silver as interim singles, but they will also appear on the album.
The festivals in Holland are coming up! Keep an eye on the news section of the site for the possibility to accompany The Fuse on tour.

Underbelly
Wonderful gig at Underbelly - the place was rammed with happy, drunk people, and some of them were so drunk that as we walked off stage, we were asked to sign autographs!
Amazing feeling to have that happen at the end of the show.
Well done to Mikey for remembering to pump the smoke out - we played the last notes through a haze, listening to the shouting of the crowd.
Next gig at 229 Great portland Street, 16th October... Can't wait

Alex on a Saturday - The End of the Beginning
Dear All,
Many weeks have passed since the last edition of Alex On A Saturday, which is something I regret, but has been necessitated by the extremely involved process of preparing a pop-band for an assault on the music industry.
Yes, the past few weeks have been busy – we’ve played three festivals, done one radio interview, and recorded six new tracks. We’ve had a photo shoot, commissioned two new promo EP’s, and completed our first poster campaign. Our website is up and running! And we have an iPhone app.
These things don’t happen without a hell of a lot of tie going in, and thanks need to go out to Jo Mirowski, our manager, for his efforts, and to Giuseppe di Lalla, who oversaw the construction of the website.
As I write, I’m sitting in Mount Pleasant studios, listening to the preparation of our backing tracks, which we will be unveiling at our gig on Saturday at the Monto. If you haven’t bought your ticket yet – stop reading this and get one before they all sell out!
So that’s where we’re at really. Its been a super hectic period, but I feel we’re nearly in shape for our Autumn campaign. Just a couple more bits to organize and then we’re shipshape.
Keep an eye on the website, lots more Fuse gigs coming up in the Autumn.
